Exploring Yoga Poses

I've always had an interest in Yoga, but in the last little while it has moved from an interest in the generalized sense to what the poses can we do to help us move through life. You see yoga is as great for the mind as it is the body, because it requires a mind-body connection.

Yoga is more than a bunch of poses and movements, it is about connecting with your soul, and listening to what your body is telling you. It provides you with time to simply be with yourself, to take a hot minute and press the pause button and come back to who you are. Have you ever dreaded getting on the mat to begin your yoga practice only to leave feeling blissed out? Well, if you haven't friends we need to get you into a yoga practice that jives with your vibe.

I spent many a class wondering just what exactly am I supposed to be feeling, and what am I supposed to be achieving from this, only to learn its less about achieving its all about feeling. There are many poses if held for any length of time can move you through, and have you releasing pent up emotions. Often when you feel tightness in your body, its your body telling you you need to pay attention. These are things our body is calling to us to feel through, they're stuck for a reason- because we have pushed them aside. So next time you are feeling stiffness or tightness in your body, give it some attention, pick a yoga pose that will target that area and gently ease into it and work through the tightness (just never push it). We will be exploring more as to how our body responds to certain poses in later blog entries but for now move as though you love yourself.
